Singer Abby Asistio is just one of the thousand aspirants who joined the much-talked about "The Voice of the Philippines".
Last weekend, she took the stage and performed during the blind auditions and was on fire!
Although her hopes of conquering the singing competition was doused by the judges' decision, Abby won our hearts with her strength in facing yet another one of life's challenges.
MYXPH.COM got to talk to the artist who was once scared to show her true self, but is now spreading her story to inspire others.
"I joined The Voice kasi last year, I made the decision to finally come out, shave my head and be bald. Meron akong Alopecia so mula bata ako nalalagas 'yung buhok ko," revealed Abby.
When asked about performing during the blind auditions, she said it was a really nerve-racking experience.
"Pero sobrang worth it kasi bilang isang singer, hindi ko pa naranasan 'yung ganoong klaseng pressure, and ganoong klaseng takot na I think naka-dagdag din 'yun sa depth ko bilang artist."
She also says that being able to perform on "The Voice" stage, even if none of the show's mentors turned their chair around for her, was an opportunity she cherishes.
"Nagpapasalamat ako na nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon to share my voice, not just my singing voice, but my voice as a woman and what I'm standing for in terms of loving yourself and not being afraid to show other people who you truly are and what you can do. Na-appreciate ko yung comments ng judges kasi kahit sa technical side may mga comments sila na constructive criticism parang they said they really respected what I did and what I stand for."
As for her future plans, Abby is currently working on a song arranged by no less than Mr. Jay Durias.
"I will be releasing it soon. I'm not gonna let this experience stop me. In fact, it opened my eyes to so many more things that I need to learn about myself, learn about the craft."
Finally, she thanked all the netizens who showed their support and made her name a trending topic online.
