After notable performances for Elle Woods in "Legally Blonde: The Musical", Charity Valentine in "Sweet Charity", Nikki Gil charms audiences on stage with "They're Playing Our Song" as the eccentric and funny Sonia Walsk. Sharing the stage with another notable actor Lorenz Martinez as her songwriting partner Vernon Gersch, they figure out how to go around their differences to create hit songs and work out their budding attraction for each other.
Based on the real-life relationship of the show's Broadway creators, the late, great Tony Award-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch (A Chorus Line") and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Carole Bayer Sager ("Michael Jackson," "Celine Dion"), the two leads gave an interesting staging of this noted musical with an excellent comedic performance and a showcase of some well-loved songs like "Fallin'" and "I Still Believe In Love". You'll laugh out loud listening in on one of many of Sonia and Vernon's hilarious arguments and watching the two figure out how to handle each other's uniqueness.
