Social media and the worldwide web is now flooded with questions regarding Beyonce's national anthem performance at the inauguration of US President Barack Obama. Was it a lip-sync?
The Grammy-award winning R&B icon remained silent despite the accusations that she was lip-synching and singing to her pre-recorded track during her performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner."
The US Marine band spokeswoman said that Beyonce "decided to go with the pre-recorded music at the last minute." But the US Marine band issued a statement saying, "Regarding Ms. Knowles-Carter's vocal performance, no one in the Marine Band is in a position to assess whether it was live or pre-recorded."
According to the statement, the band and Beyonce had no chance to rehearse together before the inauguration "so it was determined that a live performance by the band was ill-advised for such a high-profile."
"Each piece of music scheduled for performance in the Inauguration is pre-recorded for use in case of freezing temperatures, equipment failure, or extenuating circumstances," the Marine Band added.
Beyonce's representatives did not return calls for comment. Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor, who also performed at the Inauguration, both sang live, according to their publicists.
