The soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated movie 'Les Miserables' becomes the first film cast recording to hold the top spot in the UK Albums chart since 1997!

The soundtrack of the Oscar-nominated movie 'Les Miserables' climbed to the top spot of the UK Albums chart becoming the first film cast recording to do so since Madonna's 'Evita' in 1997, according to the Official Charts Company.
The film version of the musical phenomenon based on a novel by 19th century French writer Victor Hugo has already won a Golden Globe for Best Movie Musical and is also nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture.
The recording of songs performed by the actors in the movie, including Anne Hathaway, Russel Crowe and Hugh Jackman, had entered the UK albums chart in fifth position last week. It took over the top spot from Emeli Sande's "Our Version Of Events."
Hathaway, who plays the character of Fantine, also holds the 22nd spot in the Singles chart with her performance of "I Dreamed A Dream," which is one of the most popular songs from the musical.
Les Miserables soundtrack under MCA Music is now available at all leading record bars nationwide.
