The evening of May 21 etched a mark in Philippine music as 12 fresh and original Filipino composers graced the grounds of the SM Skydome for the Filscap song writing competition. After several screenings, only the crème dela crème made it through among the myriad of entries, and these songs were reveled on this grand night.
MCA Music’s newest power-pop artist, TOTO SORIOSO, bagged the grand prize as well as the first prize in the rock category for his entry “Wag Mong Isipin,” which he wrote and performed, and earned him the grand cash prize and the opportunity to participate in the Song Summit 2010 Conference in Sydney Australia this June. With the recent release of his new album TOTOISMO under MCA Music, TOTO SORIOSO has hoisted Filipino talent to the hilt, and has proven that ORIGINAL Filipino music still has not lost its vigor and audacity.
Prolific Singer-songwriter, TOTO SORIOSO is the newest artist under MCA Music with his “Power-Pop” blend of sound. Since his baptism of fire in the Philippine music industry, he has composed songs that have been recorded by both upcoming and seasoned Filipino artists.
